The Hotel Rosamar is situated
in the area known as El Terreno. Many years ago there were
green fields between Palma and El Terreno with a tram
service connecting the two. This was where the
rich people of Palma had their holiday homes as it was
unfashionable then to go to the coast and get a suntan.
El Terreno is ten minutes west
from the centre of Palma by taxi. Unfortunately the tram has
gone but has been replaced by the excellent No. 3 bus
service which runs every ten minutes. An easy walk along the
seafront will bring you to the city centre within thirty
minutes.
Palma is fast becoming one of
Europe’s most fashionable cities. It is stylish,
sophisticated and teeming with life with its café society
and flourishing arts scene. Venture out into the city and
you are in a maze of narrow alleys where doorways hide
beautiful Moorish courtyards overflowing with palms, with
stone steps and galleried arcades and ancient wells.
Palma is a city for walking -
along the Borne and Las Ramblas with their flower sellers
and newspapers stands; down the narrow streets once the
domain of jewelers and merchants in the old town, now home
to specialty shops; along the seafront, with its yachts and
fishing nets and fashionable bars.
The Hotel Rosamar is on Avenida
Joan Miró, named after the famous Catalan painter who made
his home in Mallorca. This road runs parallel to the sea
front. Your nearest land mark on a map is Plaza Gomila.
